Health Service Fees

2016-2017 Student Health Access Fee:
$147.00 per semester

Many services offered at the Student Health Service are pre-paid by the student health fee including your clinician visits. The charge is included in tuition and fee payments for all students taking (9) credit hours or more. The student health fee is NOT included in fees paid with tuition for students taking less than (9) credit hours. Part-time students (less than (9) credit hours) are eligible to use the Health Service, provided the health access is paid BEFORE presenting for care. Students are responsible for their own bills in referred to Watauga Medical Center or an outside physician or pharmacy.

What the Student Health Access Fee Covers

There is no charge for seeing a clinician (Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Physicians Assistant) during Regular Clinic or After-Hours Clinic.  There is no charge for MOST lab work done in the Student Health Service (SHS) Lab, if a SHS clinician deems it clinically necessary. Prices vary for any lab work ordered by an "outside" clinician.

Additional Charges

Payment options for any additional charges include Cash, Check, Express Account, Credit Card, Debit Card, or adding the charge to a students tuition account with a valid Student ID. This is a very small sample of some common items that have additional charges.  Prices are subject to change without prior notice.

Please note: Student Health Service does NOT file any health insurance claims. A receipt, if needed, can be provided at the students request.
