2009-2010 Student Health Fee: $118 per semester

Many services offered at the Health Service are pre-paid by the student health fee. The fee is included in fee payment for all students taking nine hours or more. It is NOT included in fees paid for students taking less than nine hours. However, part-time students have the option to pay the health fee making them eligible to use the Health Service. The fee must be paid BEFORE presenting for care.

SUMMER FEE: Students who are enrolled Full-Time (9 or more hours) in both the Spring and Fall Sessions may use the Health Service during the summer. There is a $10 fee (cash or check) per visit.

Students are responsible for their own bills if referred to the Watauga Medical Center or an outside physician or pharmacy.

The Health Service does not file insurance claims.

• Health Service clinician/Nurse Clinic visits
• In-house lab work
• In-house x-rays--There is a separate charge ($26 to $60) for the radiologist's reading of most in-house x-rays, which is billed to the patient's insurance company or responsible party by Watauga Radiological Services.
  

Additional Charges

Payment options for any additional charges include Cash, Check, Express account, or adding to a students tuition account with a valid Student ID. The Health Service currently does not accept Credit Cards.

• Lab work ordered by an "outside" physician: Prices vary
• Pap test: $30, which is the outside lab fee only
• Medications or pharmacy items require a minimal fee (OTCs: $1-$20 each; Prescriptions: $1-$20 each; Oral thermometers: $4)
• Allergy Clinic: a per semester charge to be paid at the beginning of each semester (amounts to approximately $2 per visit)
• Travel Clinic and other vaccines: prices vary
• PPD skin test: $5: ($10 if test is repeated because of failure to return for reading)
• Crutches (non-returnable): $15
• Wrist brace or splint, rib belt, neck brace, clavicle splint (non-returnable): $15
• Air or gel ankle support (non-returnable): $20
• Knee immobilizer (non-returnable): $20
