Travel & Study Abroad Services

Travel Services at the Mary S. Shook Student Health Services provides the students of ASU with appropriate travel information, immunizations and medications in preparation for international travel. Travel Services will provide this to the students directly, particularly immunizations and other medications. Professors may act as a liaison between the Travel Services nurse and students in the provision of information.

The Travel Services Nurse is a Health Clinic nurse who has expertise in foreign travel. The nurse will have appropriate clinician support, as well as access to Travax, a computer program that is updated on a weekly basis. The Health Service will be consistent in providing current foreign travel information.

For more information, call (828) 262-3100.

Clinic Hours and Appointments

Students requesting travel information will be given a Travel Services questionnaire which must be completed and returned to the appointment secretary prior to making an appointment. Travel information will be e-mailed to the student and should be read before the appointment with the Travel Services nurse. An appointment with the Travel Services Nurse or clinician will then be made. An appointment should be made at least six weeks prior to travel. The participating student will sign a consent/rejection form during the appointment visit indicating his/her agreement (or refusal) to participate fully in the recommended protocol.

Students needing to schedule an appointment should come to the Health Service and complete a Travel Service questionnaire prior to their appointment.

Charges

A deposit of $20.00 will be collected when the appointment is made with the travel nurse.  This deposit will be applied to the cost of any needed travel medications and vaccine.  During the appointment, students will be informed of charges that will result in obtaining vaccinations and medications that are recommended.
